After bringing hundreds of laid off hotel workers back onto the payroll through the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy program, the Fairmont Royal York announced on Friday that it will cease its participation in the program effective immediately.

The government designed this program to keep workers attached to their jobs over the course of the pandemic, but hotel employers are declining to use it all. The government needs to know that workers are being left behind and take action to fix it.

Local 75 has put out a press release and will continue calling on the hotel to do the right thing, but your voice is essential.
