Craig’s Cookies Workers Ratify Historic First Collective Agreement: Bakers’ Wages increase by $3 over 2 years.
Toronto, November 6, 2026 – Last week, Bakers at Craig’s Cookies Locations across Toronto voted to approve their record breaking first collective agreement. Over 95% of the workers voted in favour of $3 raises, Layoff protections, and health & safety language.
The vote comes 10 months after nearly 100 workers from 5 locations in Toronto voted to join UNITE HERE Local 75, the union representing 8,000 hospitality workers in the Greater Toronto Area, late last year.
The Craig’s Cookies workers’ last company-wide raise was in January 2023, when the company increased all workers’ wages by $0.25. The new collective agreement immediately raises all the classification wages up to a standard rate from the date of ratification.
“This contract is huge for us. When we unionized, we committed to stand up for each other,” says Winnie Bowser, a baker at the Craig’s Cookies Church Street Location. “That’s why we fought to bring everyone up. We do the same work, we deserve the same pay.”
Bakers, who make up the vast majority of Craig’s Cookies’ workforce, will now make $20 per hour, an increase as high as $2, while Keyholders, or shift leaders, will receive increases as high as $1.75 per hour, bringing their wages up to $21. All workers’ wages will receive another dollar increase in October 2027.
This historic first agreement shows what workers can achieve when they unite. From day one, the bargaining committee pushed hard to ensure fair wages that reflect the hard work, dedication, and creativity they put in day after day.
“We’re ecstatic. When we first unionized, we had people come into our stores and congratulate our solidarity,” adds Bowser. “Now, we have something meaningful to show for it.”
